Back to School with new US History (America 250) resources for National Geographic MapMaker

The new US History (America 250) resources are hosted on the new Educator Support Hub and are part of the 70 curriculum resources that you can now find on the hub:

Each lesson is presented within a Portfolio Instant App so that you can find all of the resources for the lesson in one place:

This is a flexible resource that you can use and adapt to suit your teaching and students requirements. For example:

Teach from the front of the class with the MapMaker map and/or share it with your students.
Share the map with your students and print out the student activity for them to complete.
Copy the student activity into Google Doc's or Word and make any edits (if needed) that are suitable for your class. Share the map and edited activity with your students to complete.
Share the link to the MapMaker videos to help students use MapMaker.

thanks @Jason_Sawle Really amazing how MapMaker can help young people and their teachers to celebrate America at 250 years!!! @EzraCheruiyot Students being able to share maps, then edit and ahre exiting activities happening in their towns, cities, states and countrys will create incredible learning opportunities. I wonder how students in our countries might be able to do split screen research to compare and contrast develops across borders.....?

Take a screenshot of each region and place them side by side in a slide or document — great for student worksheets or presentations. 📍 Option 4: Bookmarks Within One Map Some MapMaker Atlas maps include pre-set bookmarks — saved views that zoom directly to specific regions or features. Students can click a bookmark to jump instantly to that view. While not truly simultaneous, you could set up bookmarks for both regions so students can quickly toggle between them. The two-browser-window approach is the most seamless option for displaying both regions at the same time. Actually, it is possible to create a side-by-side comparison using ArcGIS StoryMaps. I've built StoryMaps that use the Swipe block to compare two different maps, allowing users to interactively view and compare separate web maps within the same storyunfortunately i couldnt share as a link here

While the Swipe block is commonly used to compare different layers of the same location, you can also configure it with two different web maps. It's a great way to present two regions such as the southeastern United States and northwestern Kenya in a single StoryMap for educational purposes. Perhaps, in the near future, we could develop a StoryMap comparing Kenya and the United States from an educational and geographic perspective. It would be a great way to showcase how ArcGIS can connect classrooms across continents, encourage global learning, and spearhead new ideas for international collaboration and educational development.

@EzraCheruiyot, remembered 😊 how ingeniously children use the Swipe tool in their projects! Although I explained that in history projects you can use it to compare old and new maps, and in research data layers, there are no limits to their imagination. You never know how one or another tool will be used... the last time in my class, using Swipe, they found portrait similarities of two historical characters! Children! 🙂

@ЛюдмилаМандруляк Its both interesting and also a skill that may not have been even mastered by skilled Geospatial or cartographers but if we instill to them sucha skill they will be able to appreciate such a variation on historical maps and new maps basically for example if someone is doing land use change detection swipe tool could be good for such a comparison.
