I'm having an issue with the Workforce Mobile App only showing the Assignments and Workers layers, and not any of our organizational asset layers. I want our inspectors to be able to see our stormwater assets in the Worker map in the mobile app as well as the their assignments. The stormwater layers consist of four rest services published from arcgis server via ArcGIS Pro to our server site. The layers are feature services with sync enabled (not sure if this matters?). These layers are visible in both the Dispatcher Map and the Worker Map when accessing the maps through the Overview tab within My Projects. I am able to create and assign assignments from assets without any issue using the dispatcher map. I was experience the same issue as originally posted - one of my polygon layers was present and visible in the web map but not it workforce. I saw the red error triangle next to the Worker Map. I opened the worker map from the Workforce project overview page, changed the symbology for the layer that would not appear and then save the map. Now the layer is visible in the workforce app. I am a bit curious as to why the map opens in map viewer classic though. There are some limitations to the symbology so I no longer have the option to symbolize my polygons with a hatch fill.

Yes, any layer that you'd like to have available in the Workforce worker web map must be enabled for offline use. This topic outlines the requirements for offline use with Workforce projects in Enterprise.

Hi!

I no longer have the problem I mentioned above. Workforce seems now to work with hosted feature layers.

We now have another problem. We are not interested in working with hosted feature layers or working in ArcGIS Online but we need to get Workforce to work with our feature services published from our sde database in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1.

Does workforce only work with features that are either versioned or have enable archiving activated? Ours are both versioned and have archiving enabled. Do we need to change this configuration in order to see the feature layers in the worker’s map? We are not interested in offline use since we have a internet connection when out in field.

It will be nice with some clear recommendations on how we can use Workforce in an Enterprise environment.

Even though the field crews will not be editing the layers; they still need to enable those layers for offline use.

I am having a similar issue as what you are describing. I do see the warning message next to the worker map on the Overview tab, and our feature classes are not showing on devices for the field crews.

From what I've seen, you either need to 1)make it versioned, or 2)enable archiving and add a GlobalID field.

In our case, we tried the second method of adding the GUID field and enabling archiving. The feature classes from which we are publishing the maps are in an SDE .gdb. When the daily script updates the .gdb, that creates a schema issue error message. Is there a way around this? We only need these to be read-only style layers as the field crews only edit the Assignments layer.

Hi!

I have the same issue as above. I have two hosted feature layers that are sync enabled (published that way) and I want to add them on the worker’s map. When I do that, I get the warning message saying that one of my layers are not sync-enabled (although they are). When I then remove the layers from the map and save the map again, the warning message is still there. I am working on our enterprise portal version 18.0.1.

thanks for the update @Anonymous User - yes, this could be the issue. When the web map is saved, the Map Viewer checks the status of the layers and, if any do not have Sync enabled, it doesn't identify it as a web map that can be taken offline. So, Workforce will treat that map differently.

Hi Craig, Yes sync had been enabled, the layers were showing in both Collector and Explorer, but not in the worker map. I think I did isolate the issue though. Sync was enabled after adding the layer to the worker map, after removing the layer, saving the map, and then adding the layer back to the map and saving again it showed up. Is it possible there is some disconnect with adding the layer to the worker map then enabling sync? Anyhow all is good now. Thanks!

Brent, can you check the Offline / sync enabled status of those layers? You can do that on the individual layers.

Can you also check to see what is displayed on the Overview tab for the Workforce project near the Worker web map?

I am having the same issue, the worker map only shows the assignment and worker layers and no other layers. However, if I open the worker map in Explorer or Collector the my added layers are visible. This is going to be a huge issue as most organization's field seasons are beginning.

Hi @SterlingLoetz , are you able to capture the network traffic, in a HAR file in Chrome for example? That may help us to identify the issue.

Can you also invite the "craig_sp" user to the project?

@CraigGillgrass the offline map area creation fails. I've tried in a couple different geographic locations at various levels of detail, and all fail. There is no particular error thrown, it just shows as failed.

Yes, we are using the new Workforce application and the mobile app version is 20.1.1. I am seeing the error for the worker map. I'll look into synching the data we want to show. Thank you for your quick response.

I am not seeing the same error regarding the feature layer sync as you described. I rechecked the server feature service just to make sure it is sync enabled, and it is.

A few things to check:

I'm assuming you're using the new version of Workforce and not the Classic version but can you confirm with provide the app version?
If you are using the new version of Workforce - it is built for Offline support only will only display layers that are sync-enabled.

If you take a look at the Overview tab when you configure the Workforce Project; if you have layers that are not sync-enabled in the Worker web map - you'll see this warning:

I have it working with REST services. One issue I encountered was that there were 2 layers in the map that were pointing to the same featureclass. They had a definition query in the map to select different features in the featureclass. That was preventing a replica from getting created when the worker downloaded the map and so none of the 'asset' layers would display. The behavior was just like you described.

After further testing, hosted feature layers on AGOL do indeed show in the Workforce app. However our storm asset REST feature services do not. This would be really beneficial because right now field staff has to use the Explorer app to see our storm assets.
