As part of improving ArcGIS Online security, an update took place in ArcGIS Online in April 2019. This update requires TLS 1.2 connections for the use of ArcGIS Online services. Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a network security protocol that provides privacy and data integrity for communication between applications over a network. You use TLS when accessing services, including the services we offer as content from Esri Nederland.

Some of these services are offered via ArcGIS Online. With the April update, this type of connection is required for the hosted services offered as content. Some of Esri Nederland's content is provided through ArcGIS Enterprise, such as the basic registrations (BAG, BGT, BRT, DKK) and other services (including base maps, aerial photos, IMRO and CBS data). For these services, a TLS 1.2 connection is also required from June 3, 2019.

For some software components within the ArcGIS platform, such as ArcGIS Pro, TLS 1.2 is already set. Other software components require a patch or other configuration to be able to use TLS 1.2. On the page Esri Software Products Affected by TLS 1.2 Implementation you can find which products are affected.

What steps are necessary?
If certain workflows need access to our content, make sure that the software from which you access the services supports TLS 1.2.
If you use an ArcGIS Enterprise portal that has a connection to ArcGIS Online, make sure this deployment supports TLS 1.2.
Ensure that applications built on ArcGIS Runtime that access content services from Esri Nederland also support TLS 1.2.

More information about TLS 1.2 and an overview with links to enable TLS 1.2 for various applications can be found on this page.
