The spatial distribution and dynamics of fishing resources are a consequence of the action of different natural and anthropogenic factors such as environmental conditions, habitat degradation, and intensity of fishing effort. The estuarine area of the Río de la Plata and its oceanfront are characterized by a great variability in their environmental conditions, significantly influencing the distribution of the main fishing resources targeted by the artisanal and industrial fleets. The objective of this study is to analyze the spatial-temporal variation in the catches of Micropogonias furnieri, by the Uruguayan artisanal fishery in relation to fishing gear, fishing effort, and environmental
