Real-time traffic control project by con terra, Esri and Geocom convinced jury and audience.<\/P>
Berlin. With a contribution on the topic of real-time traffic control, a joint team from the companies con terra GmbH, Esri Deutschland GmbH and Geocom Deutschland GmbH won two out of three categories of the 1st BMVI Data Run. The first government hackathon, opened by Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure, took place on November 13 and 14 at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (BMVI) in Berlin.<\/SPAN><\/P>Under the motto "Our Data. Your Ideas," 80 IT specialists and programmers developed solutions for Mobility 4.0 at the BMVI headquarters from the open datasets provided by the ministry. For 24 hours, datasets from areas such as meteorology, road traffic and shipping were made available.<\/SPAN><\/P>The most successful participants were the "AmazingMapMen," a team of Geo-IT experts from con terra, Esri Deutschland and Geocom Deutschland. Together they convinced the expert jury consisting of representatives from the digital economy and data-providing federal authorities in the category "Economic Potential" and also won the "Audience Award."<\/P>The winning project Real-time Traffic Control through Geo-Data-Mining was based on datasets from the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), e.g., on traffic volumes and traffic reports, as well as environmental data and information on noise barriers, supplemented by other open geo-data. Goal and benefit: route recommendations for cars and trucks on highways based on prioritized and classified routes. This allows the traffic network to be used more effectively and sustainably and traffic to be intelligently controlled. Burdens are reduced and an economic benefit is achieved.<\/P>

Source: BMVI<\/SPAN><\/P><\/P><\/P>The BMVI's objective to develop coding know-how and creative ideas for the future digital society together with partners from business, research and digital professionals, especially with regard to Mobility 4.0, was fully achieved. Minister Dobrindt said about this: "In 24 hours the participants of the 1st BMVI DATA-RUN showed how exciting digital innovations can arise from our mobility, geo or weather data. I am convinced that together we have made a contribution to digital value creation and a new data culture in Germany. I congratulate all winners and thank the jury and data experts for their commitment."<\/P>The award winners receive the chance for funding from the BMVI Modernity Fund.
