After the last very successful EDC Developer Forums at WWU Münster, TU Dresden, and ETH Zurich, we invite you in December 2015 to the 4th Developer Forum at the EDC of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.<\/P>

The Topic: Mobile Map Applications<\/H1> <\/P>Mobile devices determine our lives, we are online on the go. As a result, the amount of data generated by users and sensors grows. Correspondingly, the number of mobile applications (apps) that use spatial reference also increases. On one side, there is the mass market addressing huge user groups, offering functionalities for free and financed through advertising. On the other side, there are specialized applications with specific solutions, often originating from the organizations themselves and implemented to a greater extent with professional GI software. We want to discuss with you the opportunities and challenges of mobile map applications:<\/P> <\/P>What technological challenges exist in developing mobile map applications regarding cartography, data transmission, performance, etc.?<\/LI>What technological approaches exist for implementing mobile offline solutions?<\/LI>What cartographic requirements are there for mobile map applications?<\/LI>How can it be ensured that not only technology influences the result but also cartographic knowledge about effective communication of spatial data?<\/LI>What trends can currently be observed in the field of mobile map applications?<\/LI>How can a university/organization or an individual benefit from mobile map applications?<\/LI>What are promising business models for developers of mobile applications?<\/LI>What content should be taught today in education for creating server-generated map applications?<\/LI><\/UL> <\/P>The Esri Development Center (EDC) at the Faculty of Information Management and Media (IMM) of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences – Technology and Economics is dedicated, due to its over 30 years of built-up cartographic expertise, especially to server applications considering correct and successful geodata visualizations.<\/P> <\/P> <\/P>Program<\/H1> <\/P>Day 1: Thu., Dec 3, 10:00 – 17:00 Focus on Education, Application and Development<\/STRONG><\/P>Morning: Welcome, presentations on concepts and methods of education, each about 15 minutes followed by discussion<\/P>Afternoon: User presentations on applications, solutions and challenges<\/P>Joint dinner with exchange (Esri invites)<\/P> <\/P>Day 2: Fri., Dec 4, 9:00 – 13:00 Hands-on for developers, max. 30-40 participants<\/STRONG><\/P>Morning: Hands-on workshop for developers, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder with outlook on AppStudio for ArcGIS<\/P> <\/P> <\/P>Participation and Contributions<\/H1> <\/P>Participants can be lecturers, students, representatives from science, business and administration – all those who are specifically interested in developing solutions involving geodata. Participation is free of charge.<\/P>The participants can present their work and ideas with a user presentation (see program day 1) to the audience. Join in!
