OSM ArcGIS Loader - OpenStreetMap in ArcGIS

With OpenStreetMap<\/A> (OSM), a large geodatabase is available. But how can these vector data be used in ArcGIS? For example, how can bicycle paths or district boundaries be displayed in ArcGIS? With the OSM ArcGIS Loader, data from OSM can now be directly downloaded and written into Feature Services.<\/P>

The OSM ArcGIS Loader is a Java-written, independent console application and was developed as part of the

OSM Geotrigger App<\/A>. Unlike other converters, the OSM ArcGIS Loader accesses the OSM database directly via the Overpass API<\/A>.<\/P>

It supports reading

Nodes<\/A> as points, Ways<\/A> as lines and polygons, and rudimentarily Relations<\/A> as lines and polygons. In the present example<\/A>, mailboxes, bicycle paths, municipal boundaries, and bodies of water were imported into ArcGIS.<\/P>
