PostgreSQL<\/SPAN><\/A> databases can be extended by implementing the PostGIS<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>extension with geographical objects and functions. <\/SPAN><\/P><\/P>But how can an existing PostGIS database be integrated and used in an ArcGIS environment?<\/EM><\/SPAN><\/P>How is an Enterprise Geodatabase created with PostGIS<\/SPAN>? <\/SPAN><\/EM><\/P>What happens to my PostGIS database and my data when I convert it into an Enterprise Geodatabase?<\/EM><\/SPAN><\/P><\/P>The solution to the first question about using an existing PostGIS database with ArcGIS Pro<\/SPAN> and <\/SPAN>ArcGIS Enterprise<\/SPAN> can be found in this ArcGIS blog post<\/A>.<\/SPAN><\/P><\/P>This blog briefly explains the creation of an Enterprise Geodatabase with PostGIS and the difference between this and the "standard" PostGIS.<\/SPAN><\/P><\/P>For this, we first look at a PostGIS database in pgAdmin III and in <\/SPAN>ArcGIS Pro<\/SPAN>:<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><\/P><\/SPAN><\/P> pgAdmin III<\/SPAN> ArcGIS Pro<\/SPAN><\/P><\/P>In the images shown above, the database name is "postgis_only<\/EM>", the schemas "public<\/'", "tiger", "tiger_data", "topology" (only in pgAdmin) and tables can be seen.
