Thoughts on Using 'Integrate' GP Tool to Enforce Coincidence in Parcel Data

Reading some ESRI documentation (Load Parcel Polygons, v10.3) located here:     

Load parcel polygons—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

I've talked to some people that didn't agree with using the tool for concerns about hiding possible data creation errors  record problems from plat, legal or deed.

Could anyone share their opinions?

In the ‘Load parcel polygons’ help documentation using the Integrate tool is just one of many options that is available to enforce coincidence between datasets.  Using Integrate is not a requirement. Please note that the Integrate tool is an option when you are starting with only Parcel Polygons. 

In your post you mention “record problems from plat, legal or deed” if you are starting with only Lines then please look at the help documentation for ‘Load parcel lines with COGO dimensions’

If you are starting with only Parcel Polygons I suggest that you really know the types of errors in your data to determine if this is the right tool to use to achieve coincidence.  Please read through the Integrate documentation to get a better feel of how this tool works and how the XY tolerance value can affect the input polygon datasets.  Please note when working with Integrate on any features you need to be aware that this tool does not give you a new output so it is recommended that this tool be used on copies of your data.  I also suggest that you run this tool on small subsets of data so you can examine the results and test different XY tolerances.
