Statistics of a DEM

Hello,

I am looking for a method or toolbox function that can provide me with a five number summary within an area I trace. Essentially, my Area of Interest is an island roughly 240 sq.km, and I want to discover its maximum and median and minimum elevations. I have the requisite DEM and a polygon of the island.

otherwise you will have to roll your own using rastertonumpyarray and use numpy to get the statistics you want.
