Adding Thumbnails to AGOL

Anyone have the secret for adding a thumbnail to an AGOL Web App or Web Map?

I've tried png, jpg, and gif formats in the recommended 200 x 133 pixel size to no avail.

I end up with this icon.

After pressing thumbnail to change image-> choose file --> then you get the screenshot you posted - just press save, it'll refresh and your tmb-image is uploaded. For some reason it doesn't allow preview of image, a bit confusing - but it loads after pressing "save".

I agree with Herdis, the trick is selecting Save after applying the new thumbnail.
