ArcGis Online Services and Windows Domain Accounts/Security

Question

Hi -

I am currently running ArcGIS Server on a local intranet, and I am able to add those services to a map on ArcGIS online, but it asks for a username and password.  The current security is applied with folder permissions on our local domain and not through ArcServer itself.  Locally we are able to access the content after entering the username and password.

My question comes to the ArcGIS iOS app.  Is there a way to access the content once the domain account is connected through VPN?  There is no way to enter a username and password through the iOS device.  Has anyone figured out a way around this?

Just got an email reminding me of my post years ago.  Random.  We didn't find any solution for our end users when running VPN.  Instead what we do is upload the data as a service to ArcGIS Online and then have the end user log in to ArcGIS Online.  This helps prevent an access to our local servers, and puts all the use onto Esri's equipment.  This also eliminates the amount of times the user has to login to various services.

The other way I figured is you could put all your data/servers on the Internet so the users could access the data.  This seems like a more expensive way to go with time, equipment, upkeep, and security than just using ArcGIS Online.  I am still in the process of verifying that though.  Hopefully this post helps someone.  Feel free to ask me questions if needed.

We've been able to use the iOS app from itunes to connect to our server on VPN.
It always prompts for server login.

No luck with our own iOS app so far.

Any luck with this? I was thinking it might work if u set up the vpn connection in the iOS decive's settings app.
