Why won't ESRI maps for office work?

I am having trouble getting ESRI Maps for office to work for me. I downloaded the file and I can see it in Microsoft Excel, but when I go to log in it tells me I need to have a valid ESRI ArcGIS online subscription. The problem is I do have one and its active. Has anyone else had this problem? Or know of a workaround?

Hi Stephanie,

Esri Maps for Office requires an Organization Account.  It looks like you have a public account.  You can contact customer service to activate your ArcGIS Online Organization.

I get the error when I log on with my credentials, its like it recognizes I have an account but tells me I need to have either an admin add me or sign up for a 30 day trial etc. I thought it was a public account, I even went and tried to create one to make sure and the system told me its already a public account etc. I included the error below...

Hi Stephanie,

Are you receiving an error when you try to log in?  Is your online account a public account?
