It was mentioned previously that there will be a service pack for fixing the problem regarding not being able to open Autocad 2013 in Arcgis 10.1. Have not been able to locate this service pack.

I don't have a date for you. All I can say is that it will be in the upcoming 10.2 release of ArcGIS desktop.

I'm having trouble trying to open this CAD file. I've tried getting the engineer to save it out as both DXF and DWG version 2000 and still have no luck. It opens fine in TrueView and AutoCAD MAP but when I try to open it in ArcGIS it just spins and lock up the program. Any ideas on what is going on?

Is there a target/estimated date for the upcoming release in which ArcGIS will support AutoCAD 2013 formats? I am trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile to install AutoCAD 2013 on a computer to save files to an older version. Having an idea if the upcoming release is weeks, 2 months, or 6+ months away would be very useful for my decision making.

AutoCAD 2013 support is in the upcoming release of ArcGIS.

Hola Lillian,

In looking into this for you, AutoCAD products that are version 2013 are not yet supported, but will be at future releases. AutoDesk products allow users to save data back to previous versions. ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 supports AutoCAD file types through version 2012.

AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Land Desktop create features with their ObjectARX extension. Object data are not supported in Esri software. Tools are avilable for data conversion in both ArcGIS Desktop and with the Data Interoperability Extenson.
