Why is it not possible to open a webmap with a specific feature?

Question

During the last years I have waited for the ability to open a specific webmap and show a specific feature. It is easy to open a webmap and use a search criteria -but you could not search on ID.

Why doesn´t Esri want us to have this ablitity? It would drastically open up for new ways to use AGOL and Portal.

You can open a web map to a specific feature using many of the configurable app templates.  To get this functionality I configured the Minimalist app to have a custom url parameter setup to search the FID fiedl in the WildlifeClosures layer.

Then I add the id param to the end of the url and specify the id to search. We do this by adding &id=32 to then end of the app url.
