Can you import a .gdb or .lyr file to Community Analyst Basic?

I created geodatabase and layer files from a .kmz file and would like to upload it to Community Analyst as a shapefile. Is this possible?

This is not possible in the current released version.  Only web maps can be brought in.  Below is the link to the online Help that details this functionality.
