In light of UN Resolution of 4 September 2026 which "encourages governments, schools, international organizations and technology companies to use the Equal Earth projection…" and for other reasons as mentioned by Alaska_Melanie on Jul 6, 2021, we, (the WWF Network) would urgently request Equal Earth projected basemaps to be made available in AGOL Mapviewer.
There are some simple Equal Earth basemaps already available (thank you @J_Nelson and @AndySkinner), but these only include land boundaries and do not have any other natural or administrative, infrastructure features etc., which are essential in most mapping situations.
As WWF is an international NGO working all over the planet, but especially in Africa, South America and Asia, using the Equal Earth projection should be a fundamental building block of our communication through geo-data.
Timely action on this would be most appreciated. Many Thanks.
