The May 2026 release of ArcGIS GeoBIM on ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1 introduces several enhancements, including a security enhancement to Autodesk authorization, expanded support for Revit workflows, and better navigation in the Document Explorer widget for ArcGIS Experience Builder. These updates help strengthen security and make BIM-to-GIS workflows more consistent and easier to manage at scale.
Security Enhancement: Updated Autodesk Authorization Experience
ArcGIS GeoBIM on ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1 now requests Autodesk Authorization permissions more narrowly based on the workflow being used. Most ArcGIS GeoBIM workflows, including the Experience Builder widgets (Document Explorer, Link Explorer, and Document Viewer) now request read-only access to Autodesk data.
When creating Autodesk Issues from the ArcGIS GeoBIM Viewer app or ArcGIS Field Maps, write authorization is requested for that specific action. The permission is used only for Issue creation and is removed immediately after completion.
Expanded Support for Revit Workflows
Revit Default 3D View–Based Syncing
When running Add Document Models, ArcGIS GeoBIM now uses the default 3D view defined in the Revit document, which can be configured to show only specific Revit categories, as the baseline for syncing simplified geometry. This ensures users have greater control over what BIM data they are bringing to GIS, and helps them deliver a clean and more focused GIS experience.

Improved Georeferencing for Revit Files
ArcGIS GeoBIM now provides expanded support for georeferencing Autodesk Revit models. The Syncing Tools can read a Revit model’s internal coordinate system (EPSG/WKID), creating a more reliable and streamlined georeferencing workflow when bringing BIM data into GIS. This reduces manual setup and helps teams manage Revit-to-GIS workflows more consistently across projects.
Support for Revit 2026
ArcGIS GeoBIM now supports Autodesk Revit 2026 files for 2D data. The 'Add Document Models' tool, used to generate 3D Simplified Models, doesn't support Revit version 2026 files at the moment.
Improvements to the Document Explorer Widget in ArcGIS Experience Builder
Filtered Folder View
You can now filter the Document Explorer widget to show only the relevant Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud) folders for your project. When the filter is active, both the folder tree and search results are limited to the selected folders used when syncing data through the ArcGIS GeoBIM Tools page. This makes it easier to navigate large projects while still allowing access to the full folder structure when the filter is turned off.
Faster Document Search Performance
Search results now return significantly faster, reducing delays when working with hundreds of files. Project and folder ordering remain aligned with Autodesk Forma, allowing users to locate documents more efficiently while ensuring a more responsive and scalable experience for enterprise environments.
