Hi! I’m looking for some advice on a social survey using Survey123. I'm planning to use the range (slider) questions to capture responses along a scale.
I’d like the slider to function similarly to a Likert scale, but with more intervals (e.g. 1–100), so respondents can select any point along a continuous scale. Ideally, I’m aiming for:
- A clean slider interface without strong emphasis on numbers
- Clear text anchors at each end (e.g. “Strongly disagree” - “Strongly agree” or “Very low risk” - “Very high risk”)
I understand that range questions require numeric values, but I was wondering:
- Is there a way to reduce the visibility of the numeric scale?
- Can endpoint labels be attached directly to the slider, rather than only in the question text? ( e.g. change 1 to strongly disagree and change 100 strongly agree)
- Are there any recommended approaches for making this type of scale more intuitive for respondents?
