Visualizing entry points, stairwells, and the locations of critical equipment such as alarms, standpipes, and AEDs, helps first responders understand building layouts before arriving on scene. Responders already used the indoor maps to quickly locate fire systems, identify the exact location of hazards, and choose the fastest building entry routes in real life incidents such as building fires and severe winter storms. This way indoor GIS helps reduce on site response times.
