ArcGIS Pro 2.8 crashed when changing Symbology

Question

Hi everyone,

Could anyone please help me fix an issue I’m having when changing the symbology in ArcGIS Pro 2.8 (the client requires the project to remain in version 2.8)?

From what I’ve read, installing patch 2.8.8 might resolve this issue. However, I couldn’t find the patch in My Esri.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I used to have that issue back when running 2.x versions.

It was related to Microsoft KB updates.  Every time the system 'updated', I had to remove the updates from the computer to be able to change/modify the symbology without it crashing (which is a never ending cycle, and probably not the best for security).

Believe 3.1 is when that issue was resolved if I remember correctly, but it's been a while.

The client (you) should be able to upgrade to 3.1.x, if you are current on the software maintenance. You could get an updated license file and move to 3.1.x or newer.

I am not aware of any public location to download that patch, since the software is retired.

Hey Tony

I bet the answer is down to a display driver problem. I had this issue many moons ago and I found that my laptop was using the "standard" Windows display drivers and not the recommended graphics card display drivers. I think you will be fine when you update the drivers to the graphics card drivers.
