Greyed out Map Appearance options with Swipe feature

I am having trouble figuring out why my map appearance options are greyed out for my web maps when using the Media Swipe feature for my Story Map. When just adding the maps to the Story Map everything is able to be turned on and off. Any ideas? Thank you!
