heat map layering - graduated colors

Question

Is it possible to layer multiple heat maps (graduated colors) to see how different values overlap? I am trying to look at rates of alcohol consumption and FASD per country and want to see if I can layer both maps and see if countries show a relationship between FASD and alcohol consumption.

You could try applying a blend mode multiply to the layer and you would see the layers combine. This wouldn't be shown in the legend though. Also this is used for points only and I am not sure well this would look on large extent like world wide countries.
