A simple way to enable/disable editing for group layers all at once without using the Ctrl key

Is there a way to toggle between editing and non-editing all layers in a group when you click the group's checkbox in this window? (Similarly for selection and snapping)

You can do this by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on something in the group, but it's annoying to have to open the group every time, and clicking the group's checkbox is more intuitive, so I think maybe I just haven't found this feature or the setting to enable it, am I wrong?
