This used to be possible but was taken away!

No one from ESRI has addressed this anywhere in the community forums!

Storymaps is NOT a replacement for this usecase. We need something a non GIS user can use which is PPT.

Storymaps are clunky and time consuming to produce!

The frustrating thing is we HAD this and ESRI took it away.

ArcGIS for Excel is great! Now do PPT!

Good day @JeffBishopjr thank you for the feedback and I guess I am the lucky one to share that we are considering the relaunch of the ArcGIS for PowerPoint product. We do not have a timeline as to when it will be launched, but it is being discussed and initial steps for productization are underway.
