No Map Data tab available (sometimes)

Question

For Microsoft Excel for ArcGIS, why does the Data Tab show sometimes and not others. I brought in a hosted layer to the map and to the sheet. I can select on map and filter rows on sheet. But if I select rows in sheet, there is no Data Tab to zoom on map. Also the Reset map and Function Builder are grayed out on ArcGIS tab. Thanks for any thoughts.

I then added another layer to a new excel file and the Map Data showed up. But then later I came back and it was gone. What am I missing? I see the documentation about Map Data tab, but not enough detail for me to understand when I can and can't use it.

Figured it out. Needs to be the Excel app, not the browser. At least for me, the browser does not perform reliably with ArcGIS for Excel.
