My default geodatabase is empty in ArcGIS Pro but in the folder location shows 20GB

Question

I had a corrupted geodatabase and so have created a new one and migrated all the data from the corrupted geodatabase to the new one.

I have also made the new one the default.

The old corrupted geodatabase is all but empty excepty for a trace network I can't delete, however the folder location of the corrupted geodatabase shows as >20GB.

I have tried compacting the corrupted geodatabase but the size stays the same.

Why would the folder location still be showing such a high GB if the geodatabase is all but empty? Is it possible to just delete the folder or the contents of the folder?

One workflow to consider if the project default geodatabase is corrupt is to simply delete the entire ArcGIS Pro project folder if you don't need the *.aprx at all.  If you can recreate the project in a new *.aprx, then that would be the fastest way to resolve the issue.  Once the new project is created, delete the old folder system/project.
