Help with Sewer Lateral Smoke Testing Creation for Field Maps

Question

I am in the process of creating a Field Map for sewer lateral smoke testing. It has not been done before in the city I work for, so we are all starting from scratch, including the crew who will be doing the testing out in the field. We are trying to get ideas of what fields we may need, and what data we may be collecting so we know what fields and domains to create. Has anyone here created a sewer lateral smoke testing form before for either Collector or Field Maps and could give me some tips and tricks on what I should include?

My Google searching has not come up with any info on sewer lateral smoke testing and GIS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I do not have any hands on experience with this particular workflow, but with other workflows that I brought into Field Maps in the past it always helped to start with a paper form. Each of those components on the form can be a field and you can add additional fields if needed. It looks like there are already some common coded values for specific issues, which you can add to as well.

You might have some success with this Sewer Manhole Inspections solution from Esri. It will deploy a family of web maps and applications designed to streamline manhole inspections and track the work with a dashboard. It might be a good idea to just add the sewer laterals and smoke testing fields to that solution, but it will take some configuration on your end. You could always build those maps and apps separately and have a similar system built specifically for sewer lateral smoke testing.
