ArcGIS is very friendly for developers because it can literally be customized at every corner to meet individual needs.<\/P>
On the one hand, ArcGIS offers many tools for developing feature-rich geo-apps for the browser (here, for example, interactive JS samples<\/A><\/SPAN>) and for native platforms (here, for example, interactive .NET samples<\/A><\/SPAN>). On the other hand, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online can also be extended with custom functionality. Surrounding all this are many other useful tools, such as Python<\/A><\/SPAN> for processing and automating workflows and Arcade<\/A><\/SPAN> to generate customized content in ArcGIS apps, e.g., for cool popups or special symbology based on attribute calculations.<\/P>From my experience, there is sometimes some uncertainty about which ArcGIS accounts<\/A><\/SPAN> are actually allowed to be used for development and testing and what distinguishes them from each other. First of all, Public Accounts, myEsri Accounts, and ArcGIS Enterprise Accounts are not<\/STRONG> Developer Accounts.<\/SPAN> Exclusively ArcGIS Developer Accounts and ArcGIS Online Accounts<\/A><\/SPAN> authorize development with ArcGIS.<\/P>With both types of Developer Accounts, logging in is possible on both developers.arcgis.com<\/A> and arcgis.com<\/A>, and access to functions and tools is largely similar. Nevertheless, there are important differences from a developer's perspective that you should know.
