Export pitemx to CAD

Hey, new to ArcGIS. I have some data layers stored in a pitemx file that I wish to covert to cad. The data is not displaying in a unique database and the Databases tab only displays my project database. When I go to Catalog > Databases > "myproject" > export to CAD there are no input features available and I get the error 840: the value is not a feature layer. Any advice appreciated, thanks

There is an older Esri Community post on page 2 of this link that describes how to get the data in the pitemx file to be seen in a map view in ArcGIS Pro.  Once you can see that data, then use the Export to CAD (conversion) geoprocessing tool here to export to a CAD format.
