Limit the number of features displayed on map

Question

I got a layer with a huge number of polygons(more 10 million), and I want to limit the number of features displayed from the layer(at all times).  I thought that maybe there is an option that I can select before publishing the layer that limits that property.

this is the property that defines how many records returned for a query..

I need to limit the number of features at all times.

It helps but still, that's a lot features and It takes time to load it..
