Add ability to turn ON/OFF layers in Minimalist configurable web app

Question

I really like the look and feel of the "Minimalist" configurable web app, but it would be nice for users to be able to turn off/on layers in the map.  This seems like a pretty basic functionality, that wouldn't overcomplicate the app.

I'd love to @mention somebody from the Configurable apps development team, or direct this more as feedback for the Minimalist configurable app specifically, but I don't see a way to do that... anybody know a way?

You can now add a layer list to the Minimalist app. This was added in the April 2021 update of ArcGIS Online and can be access in the About section of the settings (both in express and full setup).
