Hello GIS friends,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.

I am currently working on setting up a Distributed Collaboration Workspace from ArcGIS Online to the Portal, and I’ve encountered a couple of issues. After creating the Workspace in ArcGIS Online, I expected it to appear in the Portal so I could join it. However, the workspace I created in ArcGIS Online is not showing up in the Portal.

Additionally, I deleted a workspace in ArcGIS Online, but it has not been removed from the Portal. Could you help clarify what might be going wrong?

Furthermore, yesterday, I went to the Organization extensions in my Portal and attempted to enable location sharing. I was unable to do so because I do not have Location Sharing licenses, which I understand. However, since then, I have consistently received the message, "Unable to enable Location Sharing." Could this be affecting the Distributed Collaboration, or are these two separate issues?

For your reference, I have been collaborating between ArcGIS Online and the Portal for a few years and have a few functional workspaces.

I am currently working in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4.

Thank you very much for your help. I look forward to your guidance.

Best regards,
Abi

Hello Abi,

Thank you for sharing the issue with us. Here's a brief of the resolution for our issue that helped us:

  1. We created a new group in ArcGIS Online
  2. We went to Org⇾ Settings⇾ Collaboration⇾ Open the Collaboration with the Orphaned Workspace(Workspace which has been deleted from AGOL but still visible in Portal)
  3. Click⇾ Actions⇾ Join Workspace
  4. And join using the group that we created (new-blank group)
  5. Right after clicking Done, we confirmed that the Orphaned Workspace was deleted and that we could join new workspaces for collaboration.
