We would like to take high-resolution orthophotogaphy in the field and use it as a background layer in Arcpad, however the image size necessitates clipping it into pieces so that the handheld can manage to display it.  Using an image catalog where only the images relevant to the view extent are drawn could be a way to conserve RAM and not have to switch or resample images.

This idea, Image catalog support for ArcPad, has been logged as CQ00126072. The idea is under consideration by the ArcPad team and can be tracked through ESRI Customer Care Portal located at the following url: https://customers.esri.com/index.cfm?event=login.show.

Thank you

hello,

i programmed a arcpad applet which "do" that for you: load/unload automatic the correct rasterfile(s) in the current mapview (with minimum scale option), the applet needs an footprintlayer.

Hi Jan,

how do you get the footprint layer? Is there a way to do that automatically?

Your app is also working on Arcpad 8? Is it possible to get a copy of it?

Yours

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

the footprint layer you can create by exporting a rastercataloglayer with the arcpad-datamanger extension or with
gdaltindex.exe (http://www.gdal.org/gdaltindex.html)

at this time the app is  working on Arcpad only 7.1.1.

for am demoversion, please send me an email.
