Celebrating by Learning More About Dr. Dawn Wright's Challenger Deep Expedition

Happy GIS Day everyone! 🌎🌍🌏

In the spirit of the day, I want to share a little something I plan on doing later on this evening. My kid has lately been fascinated with stories and videos having to do with ocean exploration. She even recently told me that she wants to learn everything about the Titanic sinking so that she can invent new methods today's ships can use to avoid their own potential tragedies. Proud dad moment.

Thankfully not a sinking story: I was very recently reminded of Dr. @DawnWright's expedition to Challenger Deep and let my daughter know I work with someone who has been the deepest place in the ocean. Imagine the intensity of her interest hearing that! I let her know we could learn more about the expedition and its geographic purpose ... and what better time to do that than on GIS Day? 

I think we'll start with the video Dawn Wright's Historic Expedition and explore outward from there.
