International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8th around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements and also a day for women from all backgrounds and cultures to rally for gender parity and women's rights. In recognition of the day, the two stories below by @DianaLavery1 are this week's maps of the week.

The first story explores the impact, barriers, and strategies around women in national politics.

The second story highlights how women are faring by country with respect to life expectancy, maternal mortality, contraceptive use & total fertility rate, and the percent of births attended by skilled health personnel.
