Hi,

Has anyone successfully connected and viewed spatial data from a database stored in Amazon RedShift database using the new feature ArcGIS Pro 2.9.3?

We have installed the necessary ODBC driver Amazon Redshift (x64) to enable viewing the spatial data. We can view both table and spatial features using DBWeaver, FME. Prior to 2.9.3, we have been converting into a feature class using FME and it worked fine.

Now, we would like to use the ArcGIS Pro 2.9.3 feature that allows direct connection to an Amazon Redshift database (New database connection option). The tables can be seen and viewable but we are not able to view the spatial features of the feature class.

We have created 2 views in Redshift. One with a GEOMETRY and another with a GEOGRAPHY shape field.

When viewing the table the tables using the Redshift connection in ArcGIS Pro, only the table with GEOMETRY column is shown as a spatially-enabled table. When trying to add the same (GEOMETRY column table) to the map we get the error "Stream not found".

For the spatial tables in Redshift, we do support spatial columns with geometry type. Geography is newly added for Redshift and has not been certified by our development team yet.

Are you just using drag/drop to add to a new map? Are you using the actual table, or a view of the table?

Does the table have a unique not null column?

Thank you, Melissa.

Yes, we are just dragging and dropping from Catalog, we have tried the Add Data option too, but get the same result.

We are using a Redshift database view, the way the data is stored (not in our control) it is the only way to view the data. There is only one spatial table, which is joined to get data from other non-spatial tables.

Yes, the data has a unique not null column. But this is in the database view so it might not be identified as one in ArcGIS Pro(?!).

Sorry for my delay in response. I am able to create a simple view of a spatial table and view this in ArcGIS Pro, so it may be something more specific to your workflow or data. If you haven't already I would suggest to contact our Support Services team to see if they can provide more assistance.

Thank you, @MelissaJarman. Yes, we have lodged a support request with ESRI Inc. Will update here if any learnings here so it might help others.
