Esri’s newest massive open online course (MOOC), Imagery in Action, is now open. Thousands of people have already registered to learn the latest imagery and remote sensing tools and workflows—why not join them? The course is completely free to join and access to ArcGIS software is provided. The course runs from April 27-June 8, 2022.

Make the most of your MOOC experience with these five tips:

1. Check Your Tech Setup
Esri provides free access to ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Image Analyst, and ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online software during the course. To complete course exercises, you must use a machine that meets the ArcGIS Pro system requirementsUse this link to test if your computer can run ArcGIS Pro. We also recommend you use two screens if possible, as it makes the hands-on exercises easier to complete.

2. Review Common MOOC Questions
Esri MOOCs launched in 2014 and hundreds of thousands of learners have attended since then. Throughout the years, questions have arisen, and we have gathered the most frequently asked questions for you (in case you're curious too). Read MOOC common questions.

3. Mark Your Calendars
Note important dates to remember, such as the course close date and when each new section opens (every Wednesday for six weeks in a row). We recommend you set aside time each week to complete the latest lesson and stay on track. If you fall behind, no problem, you have until the course access end date to finish up all sections and earn your certificate.

4. Come Ready to Participate
Attend with an enthusiastic mindset and use this MOOC as an opportunity to connect with other imagery enthusiasts across the globe. You will have the opportunity to interact with other MOOCers and Esri experts in the forum each week and we encourage you to read through their posts and make your own.

Bonus tip: Join the course LinkedIn group to stay connected with others and updated on all things imagery and GIS.

5. Have fun
Last but certainly not least, enjoy this learning experience! It’s a unique format and we hope you thoroughly enjoy the learning journey. Imagery in Action is full of videos, hands-on exercises, quizzes, and forums, so you will have plenty of opportunities to learn and have fun.
