We want to enable archiving on a feature dataset but it is grayed out. It is possible when versioning that we checked the option to move edits to the base but how can we check to see if that is the case? FYI, we are running ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 with SDE 9.3.1.
If a dataset is registered with moving edits to base, archiving cannot be enabled. It must be unregistered and registered as versioned without the option to move edits to base.
PS. If you look on the Properties > General Tab in ArcCatalog, the versioning section at the bottom would say 'This feature class is registered as versioned and moving edits to base'. If it only says 'This feature class is registered as versioned' then the move edits to base obtion was not selected when the feature class was registered as versioned.
