Is this possible?
Would be neat if we could select a pole and it would trace downstream of all the high voltage circuits on the pole for example.
Solved! Go to Solution.
typically a pole is not part of the Transmission Subnetwork, as a pole or tower can support multiple electrical circuits or subnetworks. However, the pole should have a device or junction feature from the domain network that you could trace from. Upstream and downstream are a little more complicated in a transmission system as a transmission system is mesh, so there is no upstream or downstream. Perhaps the workflow you are wanting is to select a junction and trace from that junction and trace in one direction. You could place a start point at the junction and then put a barrier on one side of the junction to trace in the opposite direction. What information are you looking to obtain from a trace?

I see what you mean.
It was more of a general question that could you start a trace from a structure object?
We can easily select the junctions that are associated with the pole and trace. So no issues there.
Can I humbly chip in here and say there might be a difference in paradigms of "High Voltage".
In NZL, when we use the term 'HV' inside a lines company/electric distribution business it may be more like the North American term 'Medium Voltage Electric Sub Transmission', perhaps even 'Electric Distribution' if that feeder has some transformers with some LV consumer services (North American 'Secondary'). There is only one company here in the "High Voltage", "Transmission" operating a national grid; Transpower. In our proof of concept UN, only 45 metres out of 4,000km fits into Transmission operating @ 110kV. Everything else is sub-trans and distribution @ 33, 22 and 11kV. We wouldn't trace on 'Transmission'.
