When you change something inside the XLSForm and try to republish the survey with that change in ArcGIS Enterprise (10.9.1), it stuck, stayed on the publish screen and never left it. The problem only occurs when republishing, if I publish a new survey it works as expected.

Any idea what might be going on?

Do you have reserved words in the name column? check the reserved sheet in the excel file for a full list but words like delete, area, name... will cause issues

I managed to fix the issue, in my form there was a field called area and this stuck republishing.

I was able to identify it because at the time of republishing my form I received an alert saying that there was a new field called area, but this field was not new because I had published the form with it, so I checked in the hosted feature service that when publishing my form ArcGIS itself changed the name of my attribute to area0, so I immediately thought that this could be due to the use of a reserved word and changed the name of my attribute and now I can republish normally.

I found the reference for the issue: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-questions/quot-area-quot-as-a-reserved-field/td-p/106...

Thanks for your help and assistance

Sometimes Connect does get stuck. But restarting the application, or even PC in some rare cases, usually fixes the problem (at least for me). On a super rare occasion, I think it took 1 PC restart and ~8 app restarts for things to work again. But that is incredibly rare (again, at least for me). The only times I see things consistently not work is poor internet connections... but in that case, you usually see issues with publishing new surveys as well.

What version of Survey123 Connect? Can you update to the latest and see if it improves?

If you've moved, renamed, changed ownership of or otherwise modified the survey form and folder in portal Content, that can cause issues. Have you done this?

Can you provide logs? XLSForm? Otherwise we are just guessing...

What version of Survey123 Connect?

Not gonna lie, I always forget that's a thing now!

@jaraujo_bzp  If not done so already, I highly recommend installing S123 Field App and S123 Connect through the Microsoft Store (links provided). The apps will auto-update that way, and you won't have any future issues with versioning.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions. I'm using the latest version of survey connect (3.21.62), I've tried republishing countless times, restarted my PC and the result is the same. There's nothing in the logs and unfortunately I can't share the XLSForm.

I haven't found any errors registered with esri on this issue, so if you know of any registered errors, please share them.

What changes are you making? Does it work without changes?

Do you get any error messages in ArcGIS Server Manager?

I'd suggest just 1) Create a new survey, 2) publish the survey without making changes, 3) after publishing, change one thing (maybe just add a single text box), 4) save and republish.

If that does not work, call Esri support.

If that does works, the issue is in your XLSX. Click Tools > Analyze Survey
