Hi there,

I'm trying to create an LRS using ArcGIS Pro 2.6.2 into an sde database which has already another LRS created by other user. I get the error attached.

Is it mandatory to create all LRS's with the same user?

Thanks in advance,

Hello

When you create an LRS there are several domains added to the geodatabase specific to Location Referencing (dActivityType, dLRSNetworks, dReferentMethod). If you are using a database user other than the user that originally created those domains you'll need to either remove the domains or create the LRS when connected with the originating user. Our Create LRS GP tool should have notified you of this requirement:

Hi Sergio,

Amit is correct that you won't be able to create a second LRS if the first one was created by a different user.  I'll also mention that whoever is going to be the data owner for the geodatabase should be the user that creates the LRS as that user will need to be connected when publishing LRS enabled services.

Is there a reason you'd like to create a second LRS in the geodatabase?  Typically users create multiple LRS Networks, but have a single LRS in their geodatabase.

Thanks,

Thanks for your reply Nathan and Amit,

So, according to that, the correct way of implementing the LRS model is to have just one LRS system and several Networks (for example, one for local highways, another one for general roads, and so on). Is that correct?

In this case, do all of the Networks share the same Centerlines, Calibration Points and Redlines feature classes?

And in this scenario, could be possible that one user creates the LRS and another/s one/s create/s the different Networks?

Thank you again for the clarifications.

Hi Sergio,

Yes that's correct.  We suggest one LRS with multiple different networks like in your reply.  The only features that would be shared between those networks would be the centerlines.  There would be a single calibration point feature class for the LRS, however, the NetworkID is a field in the calibration point feature class and is used to determine which network each calibration point is associated with.

The LRS expects that there is only one data owner who would create the LRS along with any networks, events, and intersections that would be part of the LRS.  You can give other users the ability to manage/modify those networks and other feature classes, but they need to all have the same data owner.
