Pasting issues

Anyone else keep having this issue....

I have found other blogs about trouble shooting when the paste function is grey out, but I seem to constantly have to do this and I'm not sure if there is a bug or if someone might have any insight as to how to keep my paste tool from greying out. I understand you have to make sure the map is activated and I do, but that doesn't seem to trigger the tool to activate ever. I have created new projects even and that doesn't work all the time. I have made sure to clear out the cache and that also doesn't seem to work all the time either.  This seems to happen with my other colleagues as well and just wondering if anyone else has these struggles and frustrations and how else do they go about not having to constantly trouble shoot their projects and maps for the paste tool to stay activated.... I find I have to constantly close out my map and/or project for it to finally activate and I don't think that should always be an issue. I'm using ArcPro version 3.2 my colleagues are using the latest version.

Thanks for any advice.

This " I find I have to constantly close out my map and/or project for it to finally activate and I don't think that should always be an issue." tells me that this might be a bug have you tried repairing or updating Pro?

I have not for myself, but my colleague did when he was using the same version as me, and so he upgraded to 3.3 and he is still having the same issues. Should we try to uninstall manually and then do a fresh install instead of doing it through the "Download Now" option in the "About" through ArcPro?

Maybe or if your account allows you to open up a ticket with ESRI then I would first contact ESRI support and open up a ticket with them.

Okay I will try the repair. I had initially tried Esri support a few months ago of this issue, but they did the trouble shooting things too and once it started working they didn't have much other insight. But if I'm still having this issue I'll try with them again as it seems to still be a reoccurring problem. Thank you.

Yeah the "reoccurring problem" makes it sound like a bug.

I'm sorry this is happening, and I second Ed's comments about reaching out to Support. In the meantime, can you provide a little bit more information about what you are trying to copy/paste? And are you using the button on the ribbon or in the context menu?

Cheers,

So when I update address points i just select on the map a point and copy that point usually by right clicking and select paste, then make the changes I need within the attributes table, which it works but is also greyed out. Most the time as soon as I open my project for the addresses the paste is greyed out to start from the ribbon and if this is greyed out the right click paste properties are also greyed out. And this is for any project I open not just the address one. I have a meeting with esri today as i did do the repair of my Arc Pro and that initially worked, but it didn't last. Once I closed the project and reopened it, I started having the same issue. So it doesn't work on all the above and is initially greyed out upon opening any project no matter if I have the map activated or not. Sometime it will become activated if I'm wanting to paste from the contents pane, but as soon as I switch to the map to select a single feature it greys out again.

This may not be helpful, but
I once had the experience of being unable to paste and it being greyed out when I was using a utility to manipulate the contents of the clipboard.

When you copy points or polylines, it seems that text data is stored in the clipboard. When you paste into a text editor, a very long piece of text appears.
Because I was using a utility to manipulate it (I wanted to add "¥" to a file path in Explorer), the text data that should have ended with </ARCGIS> ended up as </ARCGIS>¥, and it seemed that it was not recognized as data to be pasted in ARCGIS.
