Greater than or less than symbol breaks layer name in Map Viewer

In Map Viewer, if you include a greater than (>) or less than (<) symbol in the layer name, it breaks the layer name after being saved. It will remove text before or after those symbols (depending on the symbol). 

So a layer named "Lakes >= 10 acres" will turn into "= 10 acres" after saving and refreshing.
