Feature Layer (hosted, view) Update View not working

Hello!

I am trying to use Update View on the ElectionGeography_public view included in the Election Outreach solution. Currently I only have Electoral Districts and Election Day Metrics included in my view and I am trying to add Voting Locations and Voting Precincts back in. I go to Update View, check the layers, update and it tells me Success, View layer was updated. However, the layers are not showing and when I go back into Update View they are still unchecked.

Previously all layers were included in the view with no problem. I recently added fields to my Electoral Districts and when I updated the view to include them I mistakenly did not keep the Voting layers checked during the update process, that is how I got into this predicament. Any idea on how I might fix this issue without creating a new view. I would like to avoid having to rebuild configured pop ups that rely on my ElectionGeography_public view.

Thanks!

Chelsea

Hi @ChelseaFraley, can you provide more detail on your update processes? How did you add fields to the source hosted feature layer? Do you ever use overwrite? Do your views have any definitions (filter, area of interest, or field definition)?

I wasn't able to reproduce your issue with the details in your original post, so more information will be helpful. Thanks!

Hi @LaurenBallantyne

To add the fields to the source hosted feature layer I brought it into ArcPro and added them using the Fields table and saved. I have never used overwrite to update the hosted feature layer, I have only ever brought the layer into ArcPro using Catalog>Portal so I have a direct connect. The view has no filters, no defined area of interest, and all fields are included in the view (for all layers).

Additionally, while trying to solve the puzzle I have noticed when I do try to define an area of interest for either the Voting Locations layer or the Voting Precincts layer before updating the view I do get an Error warning that the view could not be updated, try again. I am uncertain if that is related to my original issue and potentially, I have scale visibility issues, but at least it is worth noting.

Thank you for your help!

@ChelseaFraley apologies for the delayed reply and that you're experiencing these issues. Thanks for the additional information. Unfortunately, I still can't reproduce your issue with my own version of that solution and following your steps. I recommend that you reach out to support. Providing them with the source feature layer (ElectionGeography) and broken view (ElectionGeography_public) in addition to the above details and any information on indexes or drawing optimizations set on the layer will be helpful.
