Unable to remove Arc-GIS Excel Add-In

Hello community!  I really could use your help.  I recently downloaded the ArcGIS Excel Add-In, but now longer have a use for it.  I removed the add-in, but I continue to get the following pop-up when I open this specific Excel file (the one I used the ArcGIS add-in with):

Office Add-ins (Name of pop up box)

NEW OFFICE ADD-IN
This add-in is from the Office Store and adds new capabilities to Office. With add-ins, you can optimize your workflow, use robust
features, and more. To continue, allow the add-in to access contents of files where it was included.

The choices for this pop-up are:  Allow and Continue, See Details, Cancel.

If I click Allow, it says that ArcGIS Add-in Successfully loaded, and it opens up an ArcGIS for Excel side panel (this is what I want to stop happening!).

If I click See Details, it takes me to a page to download the ArcGIS add-in

If I click Cancel, well, nothing happens.  But I don't want this pop-up anymore!

When I go to File_Options_Add-Ins_Manage (drop down) - and i look through the Excel Add-Ins, COM Add-Ins (where it should be), Actions, XML Expansion Pack, Disabled Items  - I do not see ArcGIS anywhere or anything like it selected.  I have unselected everything thing else.

When I go to File_Options_Trust Center_Trust Center settings_Add-Ins, there is nothing selected.

It isn't a profile issue.

And again, this only happens in the file that I first tried using this Add-In.  When I delete the Add-In myself - nothing above changes.  I just continue to get the pop-up when I open this file. From the research I have done online, I have found many other people with this same problem but doesn't seem to be a resolution that works (hence why i tried all the suggestions above).  What am I missing!?

Thank you so much for your help.

Walter

Hey @FelicityCartwheel

Excel seemingly has a problem letting go to Add-ons that were previously used. I had this happen quite a bit, but not with the ArcGIS Add-on.

The way I resolved this was basically recreating the document in another Excel sheet, by copying and pasting the contents over. You might also be able to make a copy and it drop the original add-on corruption. Otherwise, you can run an online repair in the control panel and it may drop the add-on as well.

Good morning @FelicityCartwheel, thank you for posting your inquiry. We sure would love to help you stay. Can I ask why the ArcGIS for Excel add-in is no longer needed?

Nonetheless, to remove an add-in, you must access the add-ins directly from the Home tab by selecting Add-ins.

Then select the +More add-ins option

If the add-in was added through the admin center and you are not an admin, you cannot remove it. If you see the (...) you should see the option to delete add-in. Here is an example of admin center control:

Here is an example of when the option to manage add-in's is available:

This may vary a little depending on if you are using Desktop or web browser but the gist of the workflow is the same. Hope this is helpful!

Oh, you may also want to clear the browser cache and as @CodyPatterson said, try a new workbook but I would only do so after following the steps to remove add-in.

All the best,
