Real-world Problem: First responders are working on an Urban Search & Rescue team during a tornado or flooding event. To organize their search operations, they use a Web AppBuilder product called Intel Manager within SAR Common Operating Platform (SARCOP) to quickly create search segments and monitor what has been searched. By using the Edit widget within Web AppBuilder, users can quickly and easily make edits (cut, reshape, and union) to polygons (search segments) to adapt to a changing plan or fix mistakes.
Audience: First Responders, Urban Search & Rescue Team Members.
Technical Problem: As we are migrating this project to Experience Builder, this workflow is disrupted because Cut and Union are not capabilities offered within Experience Builder. Although Cut and Union may be offered in the separate app Web Editor, this capability is important to provide to our users within Experience Builder. Many Search & Rescue First Responders might not be familiar with GIS outside of SARCOP and are performing the workflows on a mobile or tablet during active emergency response, so time and ease is critical. The need to learn a new ArcGIS application (Web Editor) and simultaneously working in two different applications on a tablet would be a great burden on these First Responders, negatively impacting life saving operations.
Potential Solution: Offer the ability to Cut and Union when editing features within Experience Builder similar to the Edit widget for Web AppBuilder.
