Hi there. I created a web app that is basically a read only version of some data that can exported, but not edited within the app. I'd like to share this with other members of my agency who are not GIS admins. The app is based on a web map, which I would ideally like to not share in the event that someone accidentally changes the symbology or something. Is that possible?

The short answer is "no".

However, know that altering the configuration of a web map can only be done by:

  • The map's owner
  • An organizational admin
  • Users who belong to a "shared update" group, assuming the map is also shared to that group.

Outside of that, you can share web maps with anyone; they won't be able to change your settings.

Hi, @HannahLegacy Have you considered creating a view layer? You can create a view layer and a webmap and share it with other members. This will act as a read-only layer depending on the layer settings. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/manage-data/create-hosted-views.htm
