I want the ability to define a default map in my profile.  That way when I open map viewer, I get the layers use most frequently.  If you are thinking well, just create a map and open that when you want to see that information, of course! But, I am often analyzing information based on other data and I find myself in other search spaces, like content, gallery, search.html results, even groups, and there is no mechanism to add a layer I find into a specific map.  The option to open in map viewer creates a new map.  The option to view details doesn't give me the visual, and they both navigate me away from my current search.  If I had an option to "Add to default map" well then I would be able to continue to browse and when I am ready, view those layers in addition to all the other map layers I use frequently.  I don't want open in default map immediately either, I want add to default map.  You could have it be a map that you define as a default.  You could also create a space in content called My default map.  It's similar to favorites, but its taking it a step further.  Maybe an organization could define a default map?  You get to do so with a basemap, but not just a map?  Even viewers should be able to have a default mapping experience.  Consider implementing something like this please!  Thank you!

I agree, that would be very handy to be able to choose which map you want to open an AGOL item in from the item itself, even if it just gave you the option to choose AN existing web map within your content.
