Modelling forest height with LIDAR data

I want to build a model reflecting forest heights (DSM?) and DEM from LIDAR data Las files. I used Point File Information Tool (ArcGIS 10) to check out the data. I am very new in LIDAR data processing but the outcome seems suspicious for me. I added the picture from point information layer and attribute table.
Can you say is everything OK or what is wrong and what should I do? In tutorials I have seen nice pictures from equal sized squares only, but in my layer there are every kind of shapes. Is there a necessary information for building forest height model. I only see that there are classes 1, 2 and 8, but I read that class 2 is suitable for DEM and for DSM class 5 is needed.

Thank You in advance,
